Systema Bladework: At Close Range

Target Time Defense is proud to welcome Joe Mayberry, owner and lead instructor at Systema Vasiliev: St. Louis. Joe is a Detective with the St. Louis Police Department Major Case Squad, former Diplomatic Protection Officer, and U.S. Marine Veteran. Systema (Russian Martial Arts) is a concept based non-traditional martial art dating back to the 10th century. During the Soviet era, it was practiced by Soviet Special Forces Troops (SPETSNAZ) and Intelligence Operatives (KGB, GRU, MVD) and was a closely held state secret. With the end of the Soviet Union, the practice of Systema spread to the west and the rest of the world. Using the Systema methods and concepts of training, participants will train to control and   manipulate edged weapons. Using empty hands to defend against various types of knife attack and also how to defend oneself when armed with a knife as a tool of self defense. This training will concentrate on working "at close range" or the realistic distance of 0-3 feet. This seminar will assist the everyday person interested in self-defense as well as the experienced martial artist (regardless of the art) to better defend themselves by learning to incorporate Systema Knifework into their self-defense plan and/or martial art. This is not a physical conditioning course and we will seek to take into account physical limitations of the attendees, if possible. For questions or inquiries, please contact Scott Van Kirk at: scott@learntocarry.com Sign up online or in store at Target Time Defense.
