FFP - SFP What Does It All Mean?

FFP - SFP What Does It All Mean?

You may have seen two acronyms floating around while shopping for rifle scopes, they are SFP and FFP. SFP is second focal plane, and FFP is first focal plane. Both refer to the focal plane that the reticles exist in. This applies only to variable power scopes. A fixed power scope, a red dot, or holographic doesn’t have a focal plane you should be concerned about. FFP and SFP have their strengths and weaknesses, and like almost any scope consideration you have to focus on what the scope and the rifle is for.

January 2018 Pistol Poker Competition

We had a great turnout for the first Pistol Poker Competition of the new year. We had 8 competitors that played double elimination poker with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners awarded swag bags from some of their favorite brands.

Once again Scott took home first place and chose the Springfield Armory Swag Bag.

Lisa won 2nd place, taking home a Glock Swag Bag.

And Jared, Lisa's husband, took third place.

Target Time Turkey Shoot

Congratulations to our first Turkey Shoot winner, Noah.

On November 16th, 2017, Noah took one shot to put a 00 Buck pellet in the black square on our Turkeys neck. A clean kill! And he didn't even have to get his boots muddy. His family was there to cheer him on.

Noah received a coupon to bring to Price Chopper South in Blue springs at 40 & 7 to exchange for a Thanksgiving Turkey. Noah plans to donate the Turkey to a needy family.

Pistol Poker

Target Time Defense hosted their first Pistol Poker Competition on October 18th, 2017. There were 6 competitors and they chose to shoot the targets backwards so that no one could see the targets in their double elimination tournament. For this event a computer generated and scored bracket was used, provided by challenge.com. Of the winners Mike had a rough start but came back to secure third place after winning in the loser brackets. Scott and Rick were head to head most of the night and faced off against each other several times before a Scott came through as the clear winner. Below is a screen shot of the competition brackets and a group photo with out winners and the owner of Target Time. (From left to right: Rick(2nd), Scott(1st), Mike(3rd), TJ Nigro(Owner)). You will also find pictures of the prizes they won.

The Light Flickered at First

The lights flickered briefly before going out this morning. We stood in darkness for a moment as some fumbled for the light switch and others for their cell phones. Then we heard a low buzz and a purple glow appeared down range. It seemed to be coming from the 7 yard line, and in shaking boots we moved ahead of the firing line to investigate the eerie glow. As we moved forward, I noticed the white in my shirt starting to glow and the whites of my co-workers eyes became visible. Black Light has taken over the bay and we don't know how it got there or how long it will stay.

Update 10/18: The spirits have made it clear that the purple glow will only last through October 31st. Shoot with us nightly to experience it for yourself.
